3 Secrets of Success the Entertainment Industry Won’t Tell You...

The entertainment business will always be around and impact society’s views on different aspects of life, the wealthy, and magnify celebrities’ lives.  There are some things the media fails to inform us about on a deeper perspective.  Being on the other side of being intrigued by celebrities’ lives, we do not see the real message behind how they got to where they are now.  The following are common quotes that celebrities say, but each phrase has a deeper meaning behind it that society and celebrities do not often talk about.

1. “Follow your dreams”

Truth: You always hear celebrities saying “follow your dreams” or “never give up for what you’re passionate about,” but the truth behind these phrases comes with hard work, long hours, and failures along the way.  If you are really passionate about something, whether it be business, fashion, or music, you would go through all the pain and failures, and continue to work hard for what you believe in, regardless of the situation.  Imagine if the actors you see in movies and television gave up auditioning.  They would not be where they are today.  For example, Tyler Perry was homeless and living in his car before he started acting, producing, and making millions.  Whatever you decide to do in life, make sure you full heartedly enjoy it.  When your passion slips, you are not likely to have your dream attainable.

2. “You can create a name for yourself”

Truth: You always need connections to help lead the way to your career.  Networking and connecting is essential in any field. Often, we forget to realize that our friends are most likely not going to be the persons who help us find a job.  You have to take risks and go beyond your circle of friends to get to where you want to be.  In business, you network.  In the entertainment industry, you get your foot in the door by connecting with an actor, agent, producer, or director to get your first gig in films, music, etc.  For example, Jamie Lynn Spears got into the acting industry through her famous sister Britney.  In fashion, you must intern and learn the ropes in order to be successful in the industry.  In journalism, you must write and market your message well with how you communicate with experience and knowing important people in the industry.

3.  “Never give up”

Truth: If you give up, you’ll always have the “what ifs.”  Thomas Jefferson once said, “Innovation Is 1% Inspiration, 99% Perspiration.”  An idea can only go places if it is executed, surpasses failure, and has a strategy.   Can you imagine a world without Disney?  Walt Disney was fired by a newspaper editor for his lack of ideas.  Disney also went bankrupt several times before he built Disneyland.  In addition, one of history’s greatest thinkers, Albert Einstein, was described as “mentally slow, unsociable and adrift forever in his foolish dreams.” Einstein was also rejected for his Ph.D. dissertation.   If E=mc^2 looks familiar to you, Einstein changed science through his hard work and continuous passion for physics and gravity.  If you give up, you’ll live a long dreadful life of regret.  The hard work you do today, will add up and as long as you are happy with what you do, you do not need a fan base, followers, subscribers, or others to tell you how much value you have on this earth.

In conclusion, every person’s success story comes from a unique early life, career path, and number of failures to get where they are today.  To be successful, you must work hard, network, and know that quitting is never an option.  If you follow these steps, you will be closer to your dreams as each day passes.  You are here to live your life and do what makes you happy.  You can impact and change the world in your community, state, country, continent, and even world with your happiness and the unique work you do in your industry.
